ECW 2011 Grants

The Board of Directors of the Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Chicago, are putting ourselves and the Legacy Funds entrusted to us at the service of this grant because we believe in our mission of being “United in Christ and led by the Holy Spirit to Recognize, Understand and Respond to the Needs of All in an Atmosphere of Healing, Fellowship and Love”.

This year, two grants are available;  The ECW Recognition Grant and the Phoebe Griswold Grant.

The ECW Recognition Grant is a $500 award to an ECW or women's organization from a church which supports the ECW through the Voluntary Financial Commitment.  This award is for an ECW which performs personal outreach to their community, the nation or the world on a regular and committed basis.

The Phoebe Griswold Grant provides $500 in seed money to an individual to develop a program within a parish. This program must be in one of several areas outlined in the application.  The desire of the board is to honor an individual who is involved in areas of service that Phoebe Griswold, wife of the former Bishop of the Diocese of Chicago and former Presiding Bishop, has supported in her years of service to others.

Spanish Book of Common Prayer

The ECW International Outreach Project (ECW-IOP) granted $1,500 to begin the purchase and distribution of Spanish Prayer books for parishes in our Diocese. On September 2, 2010, the Rev. Jose Arroyo accepted the first one hundred books for Sagrada Familia Parish in Lake Villa.  Through the generous donations of many individuals, guilds and churches, we have been able to deliver an additional 350 copies to 4 other parishes in the Diocese.

We would like to thank all our donors for helping provide these books.
