Order For a Blessing of New Womanhood

Mother Mollie presented a unique prayer experience. This order is designed to celebrate a girl's first menstruation as a gift rather than a curse, something to be celebrated by the girl and important women in her life:  mother, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, godmother.  Along with the prayers, little gifts are given to the girl as tokens of her place as a woman in the world.

One Woman's Creed

by Frances Somerville

I believe in God,

creator of the universe

dwelling forever beyond time and space.

I believe in Jesus Christ

who came to live among us

and let us see what God is like.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

  sent from God through Jesus

to be our guide and comforter.

Therefore I believe in love,

in hope, compassion, joy and faith,

and forgiveness and eternal life.

A Prayer for Women's Ministry

by The Rev. Peg Williams, ECW Chicago Chaplain 2012-2015

Most awesome God,

women are and have always been among the first to volunteer,

the first to organize, and the first to use their network of friends in Christ

to accomplish good works.

We give you thanks for bringing us together – women who are willing

to contribute their considerable skill to the advancement of your church

and to the world.

We ask that you support and guide us,

and allow each of us to be strengthened by the inspiration of our sisters.

All this we ask in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen
